About
Develop a best-in-class mobile app to empower Upscalers' angel investor community and unlock its full potential. The app aims to address the limitations of managing a large and active community on WhatsApp by creating a streamlined platform that fosters deal flow, facilitates secure communication, and strengthens connections between investors, founders, and the Upscalers organization.
Problem
Upscalers' reliance on WhatsApp to manage their expanding angel investor community created a multitude of roadblocks. Finding specific deals and crucial information became a challenge due to cluttered chat threads, hindering efficient deal flow. Focused discussions and collaborative analysis of investment opportunities were hampered by the limitations of group chats. The absence of dedicated tools within WhatsApp made managing due diligence, tracking investments, and communicating with portfolio companies cumbersome. Furthermore, fostering connections and collaboration between investors based on expertise and interests was restricted. Finally, managing upcoming events, sharing details, and facilitating RSVPs proved inefficient through WhatsApp. These limitations significantly hampered communication, streamlined deal flow, and overall engagement within the Upscalers investor community.
Solution
1. Identified Pain Points: Conducted in-depth interviews with Upscalers members (investors and founders) to understand the challenges of managing a large and growing community on WhatsApp. Key frustrations included information overload, difficulty finding specific deals, and limited space for focused discussions.
2. Defined User Needs: Through user research, we identified the critical needs for a successful angel investor app. These included: Clear Deal Presentation, Seamless Discussion Forum, Investment Management Tools, Comprehensive Member Directory, Event Calendar & Management.
3. Conceptualized User Flow: Mapped out user journeys for both investors and founders, ensuring a smooth and intuitive experience when browsing deals, participating in discussions, and connecting with other members.
4. Designed App Interface: Created a user-friendly and aesthetically pleasing mobile app interface that aligns with Upscalers' brand identity. Prioritized clarity, intuitive navigation, and responsiveness across various devices.
5. Integrated Core Features: Developed functionalities for: Deal Browsing & Filtering, Secure Deal Discussion Forums, Investment Tracking Tools, Advanced Member Directory, Event Calendar & Management.
6. Implemented Advanced Security Measures: Prioritized robust security measures to protect sensitive member data and deal information.
Creative Process
1. Research: Conducted user interviews, competitor analysis, and reviewed market trends for leading investor platforms. This research phase provided valuable insights into current industry standards and potential areas for differentiation.
2. Sketching: Created low-fidelity wireframes to visually represent the initial app structure and user flow. These wireframes were used for internal testing and early feedback on the core functionalities.
3. Digital Design: Translated wireframes into high-fidelity mockups with visual elements, refined iconography, and branding integration. This stage focused on creating a visually appealing and user-centric interface.
4. Refinement: Conducted usability testing with a diverse group of Upscalers members. User feedback was incorporated to improve the information architecture, refine functionalities, and optimize the overall user experience.
5. Finalization: Developed final app prototypes and ensured functionality across different mobile platforms (iOS and Android). Extensive testing was conducted to guarantee a smooth and bug-free user experience.
